Bank of Maldives established strategic partnership with Parley Maldives for ocean conservation under ENV POS. Through this partnership Bank will support Parley in its efforts to export plastic waste for recycling to Germany, Taiwan and Malaysia as part of the Parley AIR strategy “Avoid. Intercept. Redesign.” BML will also introduce its new bank cards made with Parley Ocean Plastic® from plastic intercepted in Maldives.
The Bank partnered with Maldives Ocean Plastics Alliance (MOPA) bolster sustainable recycling practices and address plastic waste management in the Maldives. The Bank will facilitate the establishment of heavy-duty PET grinders to efficiently convert plastic bottles into granules to export to established recycling facilities in India and Malaysia, and process tonnes of PET plastic waste collected from Hulhumale’.
